I’m going to Disney!

How many times have you heard your favorite celebrity or sports entertainers shout that as a joke or seriousness? And, how many times have you wished that you could afford to go to Disney?

Well, now with the travel industry and the economy hurting in a very bad way, it may be a lot more affordable than you think. There are ways to find Cheap Disney vacations without compromising on a lot of necessities and luxuries.

First thing to figure out to make a cheap Disney vacation happen, is to determine what the most expensive parts of the vacation. Then it’s a matter of figuring out how to lower those costs.

Unless you live right down the road, transportation to and from Disney can be quite costly. If there’s any way to drive yourself and your family there, that is probably the most cost effective way to get there. Some people have found that renting a mini-van or a most fuel efficient car is the best way to get themselves to and from their destination.

If gas prices are down, as they currently are, it is definitely an option. Of course, if gas prices are up, chances are, the costs of your flight will be up as well, so you have to weigh all of your options.

If driving is something that is feasible and your family or friends won’t kill each other on en route, it may save you quite a bit of money and start your cheap Disney vacation off with some extra spending money in your pocket. If flying is the only option for getting to your Disney destination, shop around for the best rates! Don’t simply settle for the very first price that you see.

Airfares may not be negotiable but it isn’t set in stone. Sometimes, different days of the week or even times of the day can affect the ticket prices. Check online several times each day to see if the rates start to change. The next highest expense that will factor into your cheap Disney vacation is the hotel or overnight accommodations.

Sure, you can find some great deals for several nights free if you stay at a Disney resort. And for some, those prices are not too costly. For others, it may be more economical to check some other local resorts and hotels for less expensive options.

You can make it a cheap Disney vacation if you’re willing to stay outside of the resort. You may actually find that you can get several nights at a nearby hotel for the price of one night within the resort. And as always, shop around.

Do your homework and check those rates. Make sure that you are doing everything that you can to ensure that your cheap Disney vacation is affordable and fun!

Of course, can’t go on your cheap Disney vacation unless you’re planning on spending some time at the theme parks! Those admission tickets are not cheap. And you can’t walk up to the ticket booths and bargain with them.

But, you may be able to find discount tickets ahead of time online or even through your hotel. If there’s any way to save even a few dollars on those tickets, make it happen.

Every dollar helps. With taking some time to do your homework and plan your time away accordingly, you will find that a cheap Disney vacation is not only possible, but the best thing that could happen to your family.

If you plan it well, and your plans come to fruition, a cheap Disney vacation could well best holiday of a lifetime.

Do You Need Flights Within Europe?

Traveling through the great continent of Europe is a dream for many people in the United States as well as other countries. There is something magical and eternal about Europe, though it is not necessarily the best place to travel, the appeal remains. The question for many is how, exactly, to travel while in Europe. Sure, there are flights within Europe that will take you from place to place. But there are other modes of transportation as well.

Europe seems pretty big from way over here, but the number of places you can go to is incredible, given that the continent is not that much bigger than the continental United States. For that reason, I suggest traveling by train whenever possible, instead of the flights within Europe. Unlike in the United States, train travel is still considered an entirely viable if not preferred method of travel. For that reason, train travel is often faster and more comfortable in Europe than the United States, as well as more affordable. Backpacking through Europe is usually done via train, not plane as it is easy for anyone to jump from city to city and country to country.

Traveling through train has any its other advantages over flights within Europe as well. Train travel allows for you to see out the window at the European countryside. You get a better sense of the lands you are traveling over when you travel through them, rather than fly over them.

Perhaps better than train travel and flights within Europe if you can afford it is to rent a car. Renting a car can be tricky as a foreign citizen, but few experiences are more enjoyable as a tourist. Unlike a train, you can stop anywhere you please, for as long as you want. You also get the benefit of taking any route you wish, going where tracks or planes do not.

Of course, flights within Europe might be the best option if you are low on time and want to get to certain places in a hurry. Train travel can have more lay-overs and transfers and connecting trains than flights within Europe.

Regardless of how exactly you travel, seeing as much of Europe as possible is certainly a great thing. Yes, there are flights within Europe to help you get around, but consider what you are there for and you may see that flights within Europe may or may not be your best mode of transportation.

Get a Condo at Jacksonville before the market rebounds.

There are many places you can get good housing and at a good price. However if you want a balanced mix of affordable prices, modern customized amenities and no landscaping expenses, then Jacksonville fl condos are just the answer for you.

The boom of condos that started in 2000 and the early years of the century brought to Jacksonville fl condos in virtually most of the places in Jacksonville. You can find condos built from the Southside that include such locations as Stonebride, overlook, Wolfcreek, Campfield and Point Meadows. Jacksonville fl condos range in size from anywhere from 1,050 square feet to 1,500 square feet of living space.

If you are looking for a condo in these places, you will a wide variety to select from. The speculative days of condos were evidently strong forcing a large number of apartments to be converted to condominiums. This, in turn, resulted in a large number of condos unsold.

This large inventory will therefore give you a wide selection to look for exactly what you are looking for, both in price and location. Developers want to move these condos and are therefore offering fantastic upgrades and incentives to anyone who wants a piece of this condo pie.

Buyers will be surprised to find that developers are willing to offer condominium crazy prices of anywhere from $125,000 to $300,000. You of course realize that this is a very good investment in a home. To get a good deal, locate a local professional realtor. Going through a realtor will also mean that you will get some leverage in buying.

Downtown Jacksonville is another luxury condo market. In recent years, there have been a good number of Jacksonville fl condos that have been completed in such locations as The Shipyard, Peninsula, The St. Johns and Berkman Plaza Two. These are a bit on the high end but very good deals nevertheless if you are looking for a little extra spacious condo.

Furthermore, you get to cut down on commute time and you get a whole range of services on site such as grocery shopping, restaurants and security, a good deal if you ask me. Jacksonville fl condos are excellent for someone who likes sports and museums since these are plenty in Jacksonville.

Parks too abound around the city offering fun-filled spots. Before the market rebounds, this is the perfect time to get yourself a condo in this beautiful city under the sun.

Before I took my vacation up to Alaska, I had little understanding of how large Alaska was, and how remote some of its destinations.

My Alaska fishing guide told me a fact that is common knowledge to many, but that had eluded me up to that point: Alaska is so large that if it were divided into two equal parts, Texas would have the rare honor of being the third largest state in the country.

It truly is the last frontier out there, although the native Alaskans will grimace when you say such a thing to their faces.

Along with its largeness, and its remoteness, Alaska is wild and sparsely populated. This is what makes Alaska fishing and hunting so attractive to some many people.

Alaska fishing lodges are some of the most isolated in the world, and along with that have some of the best fishing. Most Alaska fishing guides are knowledgeable and you need to be knowledgeable to survive in such a brutal and isolated environment.

Our Alaska fishing guide was a gruff old fellow. He had not set out to be an Alaska fishing guide originally, but then again few do. Generally, your Alaska fishing guide will fit into one of two types.

Either he is some young adventurer who’s traveled all over the world, and found Alaska to be the only place harsh enough, isolated enough, and beautiful enough for him to finally settle in, or he is a native. It is native to Alaska, he is likely to be a man of few words; strong and independent, and with a quiet but hilarious sense of humor. Our Alaskan fishing guide was of the former type.

Mike was the name of the Alaska fishing guide, a plain name for a man who was anything but plain. Before settling into his current role as an Alaska fishing guide he had been, in no particular order, a Mountaineer, a translator, and an attache to several American consulates. He even spent some time as a firefighter.

But of all these jobs, he said, his job as an Alaska fishing guide suited him to a tee. You get to spend all of his time in the great outdoors, showing some of the most beautiful, pristine, and undisturbed wilderness in the world to travelers from all over who loves nature almost as much as he did. Although his job as an Alaska fishing guide meant that he had a tough life, it seemed to be worth it for him.

They say the world is shrinking and it is, in respect of the ease of world travel. Tourists want to travel to the more remote outposts of the world and adventure travel is increasingly popular.

When I was a child, I dreamed of visiting the Far East and the Great Wall China, in particular. China held a fascination for me but I never dreamed that I would actually get there one day.

My husband and I decided to save up and go on the vacation of a lifetime. We have a friend who lives and works in Japan who speaks Chinese Mandarin fluently, having studied the language at Beijing University and has also worked in Taiwan.

The plan was to visit our friend in Tokyo and see a bit of Japan. Then we flew to Hong Kong to spend some time there and then onto China. Our friend went with us, which made the trip a lot more fun and much easier, having someone to interpret for us.

Beijing is a fascinating place and we did the usual sightseeing, including exploring the Forbidden Palace and Tienanmen Square. One of the striking things is the amount of cars in the city and the background noise of tooting car horns. Then came the time to board the coach to take us to the Great Wall China. We had read as much about it as we could but nothing really prepares you for it.

I was determined to walk the wall, a portion of it anyway, as it stretches over 4,000 miles! When we arrived, it was very busy, mostly with Chinese people and a few foreigners sprinkled here and there. We walked one of the most popular stages of the Great Wall China. It is divided into watchtowers, gateways and old barracks, some sections dating back to the 5th century. The longest human made construction in the world surpassed all expectations.

It’s eight miles of beach attract many tourists and the pier, going from Main Street to the Pacific Ocean, is the largest of its kind on the West Coast. The downtown district of cafes, restaurants, surf shops and bars make for a vibrant atmosphere.

Surfing conditions here are considered to be amongst the finest in the state and Huntington Beach California is the annual host for the World Surfing Championships held each summer. The area is also popular with kiteboarders and the National Paintballing Championships are also held here.

The International Surfing Museum receives many visitors and has helped to put Huntington Beach California on the map. There are displays covering the entire history of the sport and a large collection of surf boards.

Information includes facts about pop culture with connections to surfing, such as the music of Jan & Dean, the Beach boys and guitarist, Dick Dale. The gift shop sells CDs and T-shirts and the museum organizes surf music concerts throughout the summer.

Many events bring people together and the social calendar is full. Surf City Nights are held each Tuesday with entertainment, a farmer’s market, food stalls and activities for the children. The Annual Kite Festival is an event for everyone to get involved who has a kite to fly. Professional kite fliers also participate, demonstrating their skills to music.

For the really fit citizens of Huntington Beach California, there is the Annual Biathlon Race, which combines running and swimming. It takes place in July, beginning at daybreak and is organized by local lifeguards.

There are so many great places in the world to visit, but it is hard to beat holidays in Italy.

Italy is a fascinating country with historical cities, scenic countryside, mountains, beautiful coast and art treasures. There are countless museums and artifacts for the history enthusiast. It’s a modern country too and offers the best in designer clothes shopping and fine cuisine.

Holidays in Italy can be very expensive but tourists on a budget can still have a great time if they look around for the cheaper accommodation and eating places. There are top class hotels, bread and breakfast accommodation and campsites. Many people stay on farms in rural areas, looked after by a family and eating delicious home cooked meals.

Food and wine is an enjoyable aspect of any stay in Italy. Italians love their food and are proud of their wine. In fact, menus do not usually include foreign wines. It’s worth noting that standing up at a bar is less expensive than sitting at a table. Breakfasts tend to be small affairs, perhaps coffee and pastry or bread and cheese or cold meats.

Holidays in Italy involve so much more than pizza and pasta. The menus are extremely versatile and there are regional differences. Risotto, a creamy rice dish, is popular and gelato is the word for the many varieties of ice cream. Tiramisu, a coffee flavored cake, is another favorite dessert.

A trip to Rome is always memorable and there is so much to see. The highlights are the Vatican City with the great art works of Michelangelo and Bernini, the Coliseum where the ancient Games took place and numerous churches and museums.

Florence is another city, steeped in history and the work of the great, Renaissance artists. The domed cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is most impressive, as is the Campanile Tower, the Medici Chapel and the Uffizi Art Gallery.

For romantic holidays in Italy, the place to head for is Venice. Its canals, squares, bridges and narrow streets give the city a unique atmosphere.

Rural Italy is becoming more and more popular with tourists. Tuscany is particularly beautiful with hilly and mountainous terrain in much of the region. There are lovely valleys too and attractive Tuscan farm houses.

The southern region of Campania includes the city of Naples and there are many tourist destinations, including the Greek Temples at Paestrum, Sibyl’s Cave at Cumae, the Roman ruins at Pompeii and the volcanoes at Vesuvius. Holidays in Italy, whether in town or country, offer variety, sunshine and a warm welcome from the friendly local population.

Long Beach is a vibrant community with annual cultural and sporting gatherings to attract local residents and visitors. Long Beach events include race meetings for motor sport enthusiasts to enjoy.

The Toyota Grand Prix is part of the American Le Mans series and is an exciting street race with an almost 2 mile circuit. The meeting also features a Pro-Celebrity Race and the events ends with the Miss Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pageant.

One of the largest gatherings in the area is the Long Beach International Sea Festival. This is a favorite on the Long Beach events calendar for families to enjoy. There is live music, seafood booths, arts and crafts stalls, barbecue and a Swim and Pacific 5k Run.

Children enjoy the pirate ship and re-enactment of pirate swashbuckling with cannons and sword duels. There is also a treasure hunt, a pirate costume contest and a sandcastle sculpture competition. The kids can go on a charter boat trip to learn about sport fishing and there are classic movies shown on the beach for all the family.

Music is important to the area and the Bluegrass Festival is very popular. There are live concerts, music workshops and gospel choirs. Annual Long Beach events also include the Blues Festival, sponsored by the Kjazz jazz and blues radio station.

The line up is always impressive and names announced for 2007 include Buddy Guy, Little Richard, Dr John and Robert Cray. In addition to the great music, there are food and other vendors.

The Annual Tiki Beach Festival and Polynesian Spectacular at Belmont Shore is another well supported event on the Long Beach events itinerary. It is a celebration of the South Pacific Islands culture and it’s a colorful and joyful affair.

There is live music, arts and crafts stalls, a barbecue and a Sunrise Blessing Ceremony. It’s an opportunity to go for a canoe ride or a catamaran cruise round the harbor. At sundown, the spectacular begins with a buffet, island music and Tahitian and Hawaiian dancing displays. Other displays include a fire knife dance show and hula dancing.

Running events are an important part of cities these days and the annual Robert C. McAvoy Labor Day 5 Mile Run is well supported. It starts at the Riverside Boulevard and each contestant is given a T-shirt. Young people of 18 years of age and under are invited to participate in the King of the Beach Surf Contest. Trophies go to the best three competitors in all the categories.

Away from the frenetic pace of cities such as Los Angeles, Modesto California has developed as a bedroom community in recent years. The town started life as an Old West town with something of a wild reputation!

Today, the local authorities are keen to extend the hand of friendship to the world and there are sister city liaisons with the Ukraine, Mexico, India, Canada and Japan.

One of the most well known landmarks in the town is the McHenry Mansion. Robert McHenry, a local ranch owner and banker, built the house by hand at the beginning of the 1880s. The building was restored to its original condition and opened to the public. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Admission is free and there are guided tours around the property.

Opposite the mansion, the McHenry Museum and Historical Society acts as an archive for the history of Modesto California and the surrounding area. There is a changing exhibition space, where past displays have included a silver collection, dolls and quilts.

The permanent exhibition contains a series of rooms to show life in the time of the pioneers and beyond. There is a general store, a dentist’s office and a hardware store. There is also a replica of a blacksmith’s forge and artifacts associated with gold mining. An exhibition of oil paintings shows images from a typical cattle ranch in the Old West. The museum organizes special events and there is a well stocked gift store.

The town has a famous son in film director, George Lucas. His breakthrough film, American Graffiti, was inspired by his time at the local High School. The film shows real life characters and actual events that occurred in Modesto California, although the actual filming took place in Petaluma.

The George Lucas Plaza was named in his honor and an impressive bronze statue was installed to pay tribute to Lucas. The statue takes a scene from the film and shows a teenage couple sat on the hood of a 1957 Chevrolet.

In June 2007, students and staff from the Modesto Junior College, where Lucas had been a student, organized a celebration to mark the 30th Anniversary of his most famous movie, Star Wars. Everyone was invited to turn up, dressed as a Star Wars character and the Film Television Department hosted talks and seminars on the work of Lucas.

There was also a Star Wars trivia contest and an exhibition of memorabilia from the film. The film was screened along with THX 1138, a movie that Lucas began whilst still a student in Modesto California.
