I’m going to Disney!

How many times have you heard your favorite celebrity or sports entertainers shout that as a joke or seriousness? And, how many times have you wished that you could afford to go to Disney?

Well, now with the travel industry and the economy hurting in a very bad way, it may be a lot more affordable than you think. There are ways to find Cheap Disney vacations without compromising on a lot of necessities and luxuries.

First thing to figure out to make a cheap Disney vacation happen, is to determine what the most expensive parts of the vacation. Then it’s a matter of figuring out how to lower those costs.

Unless you live right down the road, transportation to and from Disney can be quite costly. If there’s any way to drive yourself and your family there, that is probably the most cost effective way to get there. Some people have found that renting a mini-van or a most fuel efficient car is the best way to get themselves to and from their destination.

If gas prices are down, as they currently are, it is definitely an option. Of course, if gas prices are up, chances are, the costs of your flight will be up as well, so you have to weigh all of your options.

If driving is something that is feasible and your family or friends won’t kill each other on en route, it may save you quite a bit of money and start your cheap Disney vacation off with some extra spending money in your pocket. If flying is the only option for getting to your Disney destination, shop around for the best rates! Don’t simply settle for the very first price that you see.

Airfares may not be negotiable but it isn’t set in stone. Sometimes, different days of the week or even times of the day can affect the ticket prices. Check online several times each day to see if the rates start to change. The next highest expense that will factor into your cheap Disney vacation is the hotel or overnight accommodations.

Sure, you can find some great deals for several nights free if you stay at a Disney resort. And for some, those prices are not too costly. For others, it may be more economical to check some other local resorts and hotels for less expensive options.

You can make it a cheap Disney vacation if you’re willing to stay outside of the resort. You may actually find that you can get several nights at a nearby hotel for the price of one night within the resort. And as always, shop around.

Do your homework and check those rates. Make sure that you are doing everything that you can to ensure that your cheap Disney vacation is affordable and fun!

Of course, can’t go on your cheap Disney vacation unless you’re planning on spending some time at the theme parks! Those admission tickets are not cheap. And you can’t walk up to the ticket booths and bargain with them.

But, you may be able to find discount tickets ahead of time online or even through your hotel. If there’s any way to save even a few dollars on those tickets, make it happen.

Every dollar helps. With taking some time to do your homework and plan your time away accordingly, you will find that a cheap Disney vacation is not only possible, but the best thing that could happen to your family.

If you plan it well, and your plans come to fruition, a cheap Disney vacation could well best holiday of a lifetime.

Do You Need Flights Within Europe?

Traveling through the great continent of Europe is a dream for many people in the United States as well as other countries. There is something magical and eternal about Europe, though it is not necessarily the best place to travel, the appeal remains. The question for many is how, exactly, to travel while in Europe. Sure, there are flights within Europe that will take you from place to place. But there are other modes of transportation as well.

Europe seems pretty big from way over here, but the number of places you can go to is incredible, given that the continent is not that much bigger than the continental United States. For that reason, I suggest traveling by train whenever possible, instead of the flights within Europe. Unlike in the United States, train travel is still considered an entirely viable if not preferred method of travel. For that reason, train travel is often faster and more comfortable in Europe than the United States, as well as more affordable. Backpacking through Europe is usually done via train, not plane as it is easy for anyone to jump from city to city and country to country.

Traveling through train has any its other advantages over flights within Europe as well. Train travel allows for you to see out the window at the European countryside. You get a better sense of the lands you are traveling over when you travel through them, rather than fly over them.

Perhaps better than train travel and flights within Europe if you can afford it is to rent a car. Renting a car can be tricky as a foreign citizen, but few experiences are more enjoyable as a tourist. Unlike a train, you can stop anywhere you please, for as long as you want. You also get the benefit of taking any route you wish, going where tracks or planes do not.

Of course, flights within Europe might be the best option if you are low on time and want to get to certain places in a hurry. Train travel can have more lay-overs and transfers and connecting trains than flights within Europe.

Regardless of how exactly you travel, seeing as much of Europe as possible is certainly a great thing. Yes, there are flights within Europe to help you get around, but consider what you are there for and you may see that flights within Europe may or may not be your best mode of transportation.

Before I took my vacation up to Alaska, I a little understanding of how large Alaska was, and how remote some of its destinations.

My Alaska fishing guide told me a fact that is common knowledge to many, but that had eluded me up to that point: Alaska is so large that if it were divided into two equal parts, Texas would have the rare honor of being the third largest state in the country.

It truly is the last frontier out there, although the native Alaskans will grimace when you say such a thing to their faces.

Along with its largeness, and its remoteness, Alaska is wild and sparsely populated. This is what makes Alaska fishing and hunting so attractive to some many people.

Alaska fishing lodges are some of the most isolated in the world, and along with that have some of the best fishing. Most Alaska fishing guides are knowledgeable and you need to be knowledgeable to survive in such a brutal and isolated environment.

Our Alaska fishing guide was a gruff old fellow. He had not set out to be an Alaska fishing guide originally, but then again few do. Generally, your Alaska fishing guide will fit into one of two types.

Either he is some young adventurer who’s traveled all over the world, and found Alaska to be the only place harsh enough, isolated enough, and beautiful enough for him to finally settle in, or he is a native. It is native to Alaska, he is likely to be a man of few words; strong and independent, and with a quiet but hilarious sense of humor. Our Alaskan fishing guide was of the former type.

Mike was the name of the Alaska fishing guide, a plain name for a man who was anything but plain. Before settling into his current role as an Alaska fishing guide he had been, in no particular order, a Mountaineer, a translator, and an attache to several American consulates. He even spent some time as a firefighter.

But of all these jobs, he said, his job as an Alaska fishing guide suited him to a tee. You get to spend all of his time in the great outdoors, showing some of the most beautiful, pristine, and undisturbed wilderness in the world to travelers from all over who loves nature almost as much as he did. Although his job as an Alaska fishing guide meant that he had a tough life, it seemed to be worth it for him.

Great Value Vacation Package Deals

Is it time for that seasonal vacation yet? It really doesn’t matter if it is summer, spring, winter or fall, there is always a great vacation spot waiting. Everyone needs a brief break from the mundane madness once in a while. However, no one wants to pay ridiculous rates for summer beach getaways and trips to magical kingdoms. This is why researching the newest and most reasonable vacation package deals is so important. Naturally your best bet is to begin on the web where all the new specials are posted for consumers such as yourself. Start pondering your next destination now!

Finding and choosing the right vacation package deals is not as difficult as it was in the past. Now days you have so much access to cruise lines, air travel specials, hotel accommodations, and more. It just takes a little initial research and you can pinpoint that ideal summer getaway or winter mountain resort you desire. Be sure to consider helpful websites like Expedia and Priceline. These commonly offer the most current vacation package deals to suit individuals, families and couples. So not matter what your interest or where you wish to go, you can attain that dream vacation in minutes.

Start with the type of vacation or getaway you prefer. If you are searching high and low for an amazing Alaskan cruise for the fall, then focus on this type of vacation package deal. You can likely get your cruise ship expense, meals and entertainment all together in one inclusive deal. This is practically always cheaper than paying for each thing separately. This is basically because once you figure in lodging, food, transportation and any other fees, rates tend to get pretty steep. That’s the purpose of all-inclusive vacation package deals. They save you money!

Exhaust your resources when seeking out ideal vacation package travel deals. This essentially means that you should not just look at the rates on Orbitz and call it good. Check out all vacation oriented websites that offer package deals. This allows you to take notes and compare their specials. While one may have a great vacation deal for a family of four, another one may have an even better deal. A lot depends on the type of getaway you’re looking for and the specials each site is running at the time. It’s all about doing the right amount of homework in the beginning. On a separate note, you may discover that certain package deals are much cheaper during the off seasons. This is how a lot of people get such great rates on resorts and cruise ship vacations. If you are willing to go during an off season, you can really save!

How to Find the Cheapest Airline Tickets

Nothing gets in the way of an amazing vacation like exorbitant prices on airfare. Who wants to blow 60 percent of their holiday budget just for transportation to their destination of choice? To make things even worse, we all know that practically every seat on the plane is sold at a different price. The passenger next to you might have paid a couple hundred bucks less for his seat, which to reasonable people makes no sense at all. But instead of fighting this unusual fee structure, you can use it to your advantage to get the cheapest airline tickets possible when you fly. Here are a few tips on how to do just that.

According to conventional wisdom, you won’t find the best prices by booking directly from the airlines themselves. While this may have been true a decade ago, that’s not always the case anymore. On many occasions, you can find the cheapest airline tickets right on the carrier’s own website — especially for international flights or those originating from outside the United States. So in your search for the lowest airfares, don’t neglect the carriers themselves just because that’s what you were taught to do a long time ago.

Of course, there are also a lot of discount travel sites now that have a searchable database of the cheapest airline tickets available, so you should also focus on these places. But it’s important to note that increasing competition and higher prices overall mean that the discounts aren’t as deep as they used to be. So if you’re expecting dirt-cheap fares at Expedia or Travelocity, you will probably be disappointed. Yes, the prices will probably be lower than at regular travel agencies, but they won’t be a steal.

Another popular option for purchasing the cheapest airline tickets possible is to use a so-called reverse auction site. This is where consumers place a bid for a ticket based on the maximum amount of money they’re willing to pay. Priceline is an example of this type of reverse auction site. Though some people report success with this method, there are a few drawbacks. For instance, you can only make one bid per route, so you have to be smart about the price you submit. In addition, if the carrier agrees to release a seat at your price, your credit card will be charged instantly, meaning there’s no going back from that point without having to pay cancellation fees. In essence, you’re stuck waiting to see if your bid will be accepted before you can pursue a ticket elsewhere.

There are other techniques you can use to find the cheapest airline tickets. Many experts recommend searching for fares on Wednesday or booking as close to your departure date as possible. Little things like that in combination with diligent monitoring of the discount travel websites mentioned above can yield the savings you’re looking for. Bon voyage!

Vietnam Tour – A Tour to Remember

If you ever get to visit the beautiful country of Vietnam, there is at least one place you will love to visit – the Bay of the Descending Dragon. A Vietnam tour to this world famous Ha Long Bay is one of the most picturesque spots in Vietnam. You have probably heard of its breathtaking splendor and you may have desired to pay it a visit. This is one experience that will live with you for a long time if you decide to make a Vietnam tour to this bay. There are over 3,000 islands scattered on this bay and you will definitely want to visit some of these islands if you want a taste of this unique bay.

As you sail along these jade-green waters you will be amazed by the cool waters of this area. If you want, you can even decide to take some time and go for a swim. Do not be surprised to see children paddling out to meet you since the bay has many families that live along it, adding to the overall beauty of the whole experience. The dwellers of Ha Long Bay also have another unique talent apart from fishing and sail making. According to the book Travel Handbook on Vietnam, ‘every seam of the junk sails is handmade and then dipped in a liquid to prevent rot and mildew. It is one of the last places where sails are still sewn by hand by families of sailmakers’. The sight of seeing just the sail makers making their sails with their hands makes a Vietnam tour to this location something to look forward to.

But where or how did the bay get its name? Well do not be alarmed, there are no dragons here, but legend has it that a great dragon that once lived in the mountains came running down and gouged with its tail the valleys and crevices that eventually got filled with water before he plunged into the sea. Those areas that were left not gouged then became the visible lands. Sometimes, if you are fortunate, a Vietnam tour of the bay while it is beautifully covered by a mist will be a truly spectacular sight that you will not forget. Some places are also quiet giving them a tranquil moment that will also be hard to forget. Ha Long Bay is just one of the beautiful places in Vietnam. It is one of the few remaining places on our beautiful planet that are definitely worth paying a visit.

Should You Get International Travel Insurance?

Everyone has a hankering at one point or another to travel abroad. Seeing other parts of the world is a great and unparalleled experience. When I first went to Italy, someone told me to get international travel insurance. Only a student at the time (a young, foolish student at that), I declined. Luckily, nothing happened. But now that I’m a little older and wiser, I’ve discovered that international travel insurance is not the scam or money drain it appears to be.

The best thing that international travel insurance will grant you is a little piece of mind. OK, OK, that sounds like some pretty goofy sales pitch. But keep in mind, you are traveling to a different country. When I drive to a different state, the different symbols and signs and names and places disorient me enough not to want to do it more often. And that’s in a place where they drive on the same side of the road and use the same measurement units, let alone the same language. This is all a long way of saying that being in a new and foreign country can be discomforting and alarming. Having international travel insurance makes it less so.

There are some very practical situations that having international travel insurance can help with. International travel encounters many paradoxes, for lack of a better term. Let’s say you need to find an English speaking doctor. In Portugal, it’d help to speak Portuguese. But if you spoke Portuguese, you wouldn’t need an English speaking doctor. Another example is if you lose your passport. Just go to your Embassy, right? But you can’t get in the Embassy without a passport. International travel insurance helps fix these paradoxes and get you out of tricky situations that are much more common than you would think. And that’s not including its ability to recoup nonrefundable costs in delays and cancellations, and help with emergency medical care. Having international travel insurance is very much like having a guardian angel when you are a stranger in a strange land.

Traveling abroad was one of the best experiences of my life. Seeing France and Italy were totally the trans formative and eye-opening and delightful experience everyone had told me it would be. Looking back, there were some dangerously close calls, like the ones mentioned above. Now that I understand the great benefits better, I can give you my personal opinion that in my future travels I will definitely search for the right international travel insurance package for me.

Sure, with today’s modern technological advances it’s possible to go skiing indoors, but any recreational or seasoned skier will tell you that pumped out artificial snow just doesn’t compare to the real thing. Good old fashioned real snow is powdery and easy to slide through, while sometimes your skis get caught in imitation snow because occasionally it manifests with an unpleasantly hard and chunky texture. Plus, outdoors scenery is a huge part of the skiing experience, and with indoor skiing you’re confined within a simulated environment, and when you look up and around you’ll see constructed ceiling and walls instead of spacious sky and majestic mountains in the distance. Even if you don’t have to worry about it being the wrong time of year, indoor skiing has its limitations, literally, and the fact that you can’t go outdoor skiing outside of the winter season makes it a special experience.

If you decide to treat yourself and spring for the genuine thing, timing and expenses are a concern, but fortunately there are many ski vacation packages available to help you out.
How does it work? Easy. Just leave a good quality comment and we will reward you with backlinks.

What do we class as a good quality comment?

1. Your comment should add value to the site,
2. Your comment should be added to the original post,
3. Please keep your comment on the topic of the post, and
4. Insert your name when posting a comment, not just your keywords.

For example – Greg @ Places & Travel. If you do not wish to use your real name (for whatever reason) use a pen name. If you do not leave your name, your comment will not be published.

As mentioned, it is fairly easy. Keep your comment within these guidelines and it will be approved, and you will be rewarded. If your comment does not meet these simple guidelines, it will go to the trash.
